Four commitments.
One mission.
We turn remembrance into action by investing in families, second chances, future first responders, and the mental health of those who serve.
Support built around real needs.
The William H. “Bill” Butler Jr. Foundation was created to do more than preserve a legacy. It was created to use that legacy to help people.
Our programs focus on the places where support can make a meaningful difference — after a line-of-duty loss, during a second chance, at the beginning of a career in service, and when the weight of that service becomes difficult to carry alone.
Family Scholarships
When a first responder is lost in the line of duty, the impact extends far beyond the uniform. A family is left navigating grief while also facing a future that suddenly looks very different.
Our Family Scholarship program helps ease some of that financial burden by supporting the families of fallen first responders while honoring the sacrifice of the person they lost.
Supporting education and opportunity for families affected by line-of-duty loss.
Second Chances
A mistake made early in life should not automatically determine the rest of someone's future.
This program provides funding for juvenile offenders who are working toward a different path and need access to resources required to pass psychological evaluations and pursue meaningful careers.
The goal is not to erase the past. It is to help someone do the work necessary to build what comes next.
Creating pathways toward accountability, opportunity, and a productive future.
New Recruit Scholarships
Choosing a career in public service is a commitment to showing up for other people — often before anyone knows your name.
Our New Recruit Scholarships help support individuals who are just beginning their journey as first responders, investing in the next generation of people willing to serve their communities.
Investing in those preparing to begin careers dedicated to public service.
Mental Health Scholarships
First responders are asked to walk into moments most people spend their lives hoping they never experience. That responsibility can carry a weight long after a shift ends.
Our Mental Health Scholarships help provide access to counseling, therapy, and wellness programs designed to support resilience, recovery, and long-term well-being.
Helping make mental health support more accessible to the people who spend their careers helping others.
Remember sacrifice. Create opportunity. Support service.
Different programs. Different needs. One commitment: making sure people know they do not have to carry everything alone.

Every gift helps us move these commitments from words on a page into real support for the people and families they were created to serve.
